Cardhu

Cardhu was named after a world famous distillery in Scotland.  They make a cardhu single malt whiskey.  Cardhu has an all black tail with very little scarring.  It is difficult to identify Cardhu, but with a good photograph of her tail and dorsal fin, Cardhu's identity can be established.

Although most humpback associations are of very short duration, Cardhu and Salt have been known to spend several months together in various years including 1999.  It is quite a treat to see two large well-known mature females together.

How can I see more of Cardhu?

Cardhu on DVD ($17.76)

Salt & Friends: Humpback Whales With Names

Cardhu is introduced as the mother of Ember.  The story of Ember is three minutes in length.  It shows Ember in a close approach that can only be described as an underwater ballet.  You see Ember stand on his head and come up tail first!  Ember is also seen feeding and breaching.
