Owl

Owl was born in 1986 to a whale named Falco.  She was named for the two black dots on her fluke that reminds you of Owl's eyes.

Owl is fond of approaching boats which might explain the huge scar on her back.  It was caused by being struck by a boat.

Owl on VHS Videotape

Owl is on several of our tapes in the eleven volume series "Wonderful Whales"

Owl is on Wonderful Whales Volumes 8 and 11

(All Volumes $12.95 each, Volume 1 Special $10.00)

Volume 8 (Six humpbacks swim up to the boat and Owl and calf are part of the group)

Volume 11 (Owl begins flippering and the calf dives.  Next thing you know, the calf breaches next to Owl several times.  The calf joins in flippering with its mother, rolls 360 degrees and get close to the boat.  The scar on Owl's back is clearly seen.)

A Real Whale Watch Trip-September 10, 2001 ($12.95)

We left the pier and 40 minutes later sailed into the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.  We were delighted when we spied a new mother and calf.  It turned out to be Owl and her small calf.  They are very actively flippering together and the calf is seen breaching.
